Expo Excellence: The Community Comes Out in Big Numbers for LamorindaWeb’s First Ever Home Expo

Written by Jennifer Seelig. Posted in Home + Garden

LamorindaWeb proudly provides the finishing touches on the community event that won rave reviews from attendees, exhibitors and presenters alike.

It was the perfect pairing at the Veterans Memorial Building in Lafayette:  homeowners who want to make quality upgrades to their houses were mixing and mingling with the local vendors who can get the job done – and get it done well.

LamorindaWeb proudly provides the finishing touches on the community event that won rave reviews from attendees, exhibitors and presenters alike.

A Packed House

LamorindaWeb is all about connecting the community.  Case in point:  Home Expo ’12, on January 28, 2012.  Well over 700 local residents wound their way through an informative maze of tables, displays and seminars, learning how, why, when and where they can find the tips, tools and people to make upgrades to their homes.

LamorindaWeb heard it time and again throughout the day:  Home Expo attendees were glad to finally have the type of event in Lamorinda that they need and want.  Local residents are deeply vested – and invested – in their homes.  And, an overwhelming majority plan to stay in their homes for years to come – meaning they want those homes to be cozy, comfortable, and lookin’ good.  Home Expo is helping them do that.

A Thank You to Our Exhibitors

LamorindaWeb extends its deepest thanks to the 42 exhibitors, sponsors and workshop gurus who made the event as spectacular as it was.  Without question, the caliber of event participants spoke volumes about Home Expo ’12.  The very best of the best in green building, solar technology, architecture, interior design, home improvements, organization and landscaping were on hand at Home Expo.

The Home Expo participants remain committed to helping local residents achieve their home improvement goals.  We encourage you to make contact with these excellent local resources as you consider any home improvement projects. Dynamite Donations

Home improvement may have dominated the day, but civic duty was clearly on the minds of Home Expo attendees, too.  The response to our call for donations and drop-offs was incredible, to say the least.

Old batteries were piling up in a bucket for recycling and are being kept out of landfills, thanks to the good, green work of Moraga’s Ace Hardware.  Knit hats were stacked high in a basket, destined for the hands of a Campolindo grad who was preparing for a charitable trip to Swaziland.  Lafayette Girl Scout Troop 33005 earned some major Brownie points, thanks to a day of facilitating “no sew blanket” making in the Home Expo Kids Zone.  The dozen blankets made at Home Expo are graciously being given to Foster a Dream, a Bay Area organization whose mission is to improve the lives of local foster youth.

Artwork was indeed abundant in the Kids Zone.  For the littlest Home Expo attendees, the arts and crafts table was a big hit, thanks to LamorindaWeb’s ever-creative Queen of All Things Kids ’n Crafts, Diana O’Daniels.  Kudos were constant for the Stanley Middle School students from Opportunity Knocks who gave a helping hand as needed in the Kids Zone – and beyond.

The Show Will Go On

Along with the kudos from the community, LamorindaWeb has been fielding the inevitable question – will you do Home Expo again?  The planning is already in the works, Lamorinda.  We are deeply indebted to everyone who helped make our first ever Home Expo such a success, and we are very much looking forward to doing it again.  We welcome your thoughts, suggestions, comments and requests, as planning is already underway for the next LamorindaWeb Home Expo!

A special thank you to all who made Home Expo '12 a success!
